Britons flee dive boat just minutes before it explodes

DIVERS Jeremy Brooks and Keith Sheppard ran for their lives from this boat inferno minutes before the air tanks aboard exploded “like bombs”.

The British best friends “legged it” down the gangplank along with other tourists and crew as the flames took hold in Egypt’s Port Ghalib.

They had been woken at 6.30am by banging and an alarm. Jeremy, 67, from St Albans, Hertfordshire, said: “We saw some smoke coming from the engine but were hopeful it was nothing. But it wouldn’t go out, and flames kept coming out.

“Once the crew realised it was out of control we had to leg it.

“Luckily, we were in port and not at sea, so everyone quickly ran off the gangplank.
