'At what point did we become North Korea?'

THE Reform UK leader has likened the UK to North Korea as he criticised the arrest of Father Ted writer Graham Linehan.

Nigel Farage said the country is now sinking into an “awful authoritarian situation”.

He made the remark while giving evidence on civil liberties at a meeting of Washington’s House Judiciary Committee in the US.

Mr Farage referenced the arrest of Irish comedy writer Mr Linehan over comments on social media about transgender people.

He said: “It doesn’t give me any great joy to be sitting in America and describing the really awful authoritarian situation that we have now sunk into.”

Criticism

He went on to warn Americans they could face the same treatment, adding: “He’s not even a British citizen, he’s an Irish citizen.
