Stand-in captain 'honoured' but would prefer full-strength side

HARRY WILSON is honoured at the prospect of leading out his country as captain against North Macedonia - even if he wishes things were different.

Wilson admitted he would rather Ethan Ampadu and Ben Davies were available for what is shaping up to be a pivotal World Cup qualifying finale at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Ampadu had the armband for Saturday's 1-0 win against Liechtenstein but is suspended for tonight's clash, while regular skipper Davies is ruled out due to injury.

It could prove to be a special night for Wilson as he picks up the captaincy for the first time, but he admits he would trade in the honour of skippering the side for a full-strength lineup.
