Aquarium: We'll listen to ideas for penguins' home

THE owners of London Aquarium have vowed to listen to “constructive ideas” about the care of their penguins following campaigning by this newspaper.

The Daily Express, Born Free and Freedom for Animals have led a crusade for more than 18 months calling for the aquarium to move its 15 gentoos into a more suitable enclosure.

The crusade has picked up worldwide coverage following a celebrity-led protest and a letter signed by 75 MPs.

WELFARE

Merlin Entertainments, which runs the Sea Life London Aquarium, said its team of animal welfare specialists and aquarists cared for the penguins in their enclosure every day to make sure they were healthy and thriving.
