Amazon axes 14,000 jobs as it refocuses business on AI

AMAZON is slashing 14,000 jobs as it rapidly shifts spending towards artificial intelligence.

But the tech giant had been feared to be cutting as many as 30,000 corporate posts worldwide.

In a message to workers, the Seattle-based behemoth said the job losses come as part of efforts to reduce “layers and bureaucracy”.

Bosses said they planned to shift resources to investment in areas such as AI.

It is understood all main global operations will be impacted, with the UK among those to see office roles axed.
