RAVENS SEE HOPES ENDED BY TIGHT CALL

BRIDGEND head coach Scott Baldwin left the Arms Park dreaming of what have been after a marginal call on a forward pass in the final minute ended his side’s hopes of forcing the Super Rygbi Cymru table-toppers to go to extra time.

RAVENS SEE HOPES ENDED BY TIGHT CALL

In the end, Ben Connor's view of Edd Howley’s pass to two-try Jake Thomas on the right wing after a clean break over halfway ended up in a home scrum - and then a penalty for some back chat.

Moments later, Joe Williams capitalised on an interception in the Bridgend 22 to put the game beyond doubt and send Cardiff into a home semi-final against arch-rivals Newport on Sunday.

"It was a ding-dong battle from start to finish and we challenged the boys to be within seven points in the last 10 minutes," said Ravens boss Baldwin.

"We were within 14 and then we scored and gave ourselves a chance.

"It was a big call at the end on the line break and I'll have to look back at it, but my initial thoughts were that it wasn’t forward.

"Over the 80 minutes Cardiff deserved it and were good for the win, but it was our inaccuracies that gave them the win.

"Our line-out didn’t function well enough.
