Unexpected boost over traffic safety campaign

ROADWORKS on a busy Coventry road have given an unexpected boost to residents hoping for a crackdown on speeding motorists.

- By DAVID LAWRENCE

A petition sent to Coventry City Council called for action on Broad Lane, in Tile Hill, where they said vehicles were regularly driving at excess speed, especially in the evenings.

It added: "Measures need to be taken to control vehicle speeds thereby contributing to the safety of vehicle drivers, residents and animals/wildlife".

The matter was considered at a cabinet member for city services meeting at the council when it was explained that the section of the road between the A45 and Banner Lane saw around 5,000 vehicles every day.

Data showed there had been 10 'personal injury collisions' in the three years up to February 2025 including three causing serious injury.
