Backed by an incredible 4,866 travelling Sky Blue Army, his players were unable to secure what would have been the club's first ever win at Deepdale at their 24th attempt despite taking the lead against ten men after defender Liam Lindsay was red carded for a last-man foul just before half time.

Jack Rudoni’s 70th minute shot was deflected past inspired goalkeeper Daniel Iversen by North End defender Andrew Hughes for an own goal. But six minutes later City switched off at the other end and conceded a poor equaliser to deny them their historic victory in Lancashire.

“We should have won the game,’ admitted the head coach, speaking after the 1-1 draw.
