Truro are ready for Plymouth test after good start at Tavistock

TRURO were due to step up their preseason campaign against a Plymouth Argyle team on Wednesday night as the National League side prepares for life at Step 1 of the non-league football pyramid.

Assistant boss Stewart Yetton praised the Truro players for a “very professional performance” after they started preseason with a 5-0 win over Tavistock just across the Cornwall-Devon border on Friday night.

In searing temperatures at Langsford Park, goals from Connor Riley-Lowe and a trialist gave the dominant visiting outfit a 2-0 interval lead. And, after the turnaround, with City fielding a completely different team, Dominic Johnson-Fisher bagged a quickfire brace before another trialist, who missed a penalty just shy of the hour mark, emphatically finished a training ground free-kick routine.

“It was a very worthwhile exercise to get 45 minutes in all the players’ legs,” Yetton told trurocity.co.uk.
