Food of the gods can be too rich for farmers

AS A dispensational premillennialist libertarian Christian Marxist and a hugger of cocoa trees, I tried to find, without success, a reference in my Bible to Easter eggs and a commandment to eat as many as possible at Easter. I needed justification for the excessive consumption of chocolate last weekend.

I thought that perhaps the version I was using (the Byzantine textual tradition) was influenced by vegan or lacto-vegetarian ideals, so I tried the Alexandrian, Western and Caesarean texts and the earliest Greek papyri available. But alas, no mention even of the cocao pod.

For, despite the cocao bean being the "food of the gods" according to the Aztecs and Mayas, the symbolic link between eggs and new birth was much later incorporated into Christian tradition.
