: As the state gears up for the much-delayed local body elections, demands are intensifying for the implementation of 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs). Speaking to the media, Thotakuri Srikant Goud, Youth President of the National BC Welfare Association, Mulugu district, has urged the government to issue a clear Government Order (GO) to enforce the enhanced reservation.

Goud criticized the state administration for sending mixed signals—at times announcing intentions to provide 42% reservations, and at other times stating that political parties would allocate 42% of their tickets to BC candidates. “This ambiguity is unacceptable,” he said. “We are not begging for party tickets; we are demanding our constitutional right.”He emphasized that granting tickets at the discretion of political parties leads to selective favoritism, often disadvantaging weaker BC groups who cannot financially compete with wealthier candidates. “Only through a government order can fair representation be guaranteed,” he asserted.Goud
