Avoid Harmful Substances During Pregnancy

Under the auspices of Government Medical College, Nalgonda, an awareness rally was organized by the medical students of Government Medical College, Social and Preventive Sciences Department on the theme of Healthy Beginnings, Promising Futures at the Anganwadi Center, Madhuranagar Colony, Nalgonda town.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Srivani, Head of the Department of Preventive Sciences, and Vice Principal Dr. Ramachandra, they informed about the measures being taken by the governments and health institutions with the aim of reducing maternal and newborn mortality and improving their long-term well-being. According to WHO, "Every year, about 300,000 women die due to pregnancy or childbirth, and more than 2 million babies die in their first month of life. About 2 million die before birth. That is, 1 preventable death occurs every 7 seconds.
