State believes it has ‘water-tight’ case against Pretoria businessman Cat Matlala
Cape Times
|September 18, 2025
THE National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) welcomed the decision by the Alexandra Magistrate's Court to deny bail to attempted murder accused, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.

Matlala, who was arrested in April this year, is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and money laundering.
Reacting to the ruling, NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, said: "The NPA is thrilled about the court decision to deny the accused bail. We believe that the State has a watertight case against the accused."
Matlala was expected to remain in custody until his next court appearance on October 7.
