SHIVAMBU’S BUSHIRI VISIT HARMS VICTIMS

Cape Times

April 23, 2025

FLOYD Shivambu deserves all the criticism that has been levelled against him for his endorsement of fugitive Shepherd Bushiri, who is wanted here for serious crimes.

That Shivambu overlooked the fact the self-proclaimed Malawian prophet must still answer to rape and fraud charges, explains why the fight against gender-based violence remains a long battle. This is not to suggest that Bush-iri is guilty of the charges against him, far from it.

The mere fact that the National Prosecuting Authority is satisfied that charges against him will withstand the test is enough reason for our public figures, including politicians, to be seen to be on the side of Bushiri’s alleged victims.
