THIS year's annual Penguin Palooza at Stony Point Nature Reserve will feature the release of rehabilitated penguins back into the wild and shine a spotlight on the crisis facing the African penguin.

Unique to the African continent, the African penguin is its only native penguin species and it's now facing a critical tipping point. It is now listed as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list of threatened species.
