Office small talk survival: Topics to avoid if you don’t want a trip to HR

SINCE we spend most of our days in a work environment, the office is about more than just meetings and deadlines. It’s also a place to connect with your coworkers.

There will be times when you find yourself waiting for your food to warm up and the microwave to ding, and suddenly you have to make small talk with the guy from IT or awkwardly stand there in silence.

While discussing the weather might be boring, it sure beats being dragged into HR for making Shavonne from accounting uncomfortable with tales of your sordid weekend affairs.

We're not saying that banter has to be stiff, but certain topics are a no-no if you want to keep things professional and avoid a trip to the big boss's office.
