India crush bitter rivals after Kishan masterclass

INDIA routed their bitter rivals Pakistan by 61 runs yesterday to qualify for the next round of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, in a showdown that had been in doubt until only a few days ago.

EARLIER yesterday, the West Indies became the first team to qualify for the Super 8s of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup when they cruised to victory against Nepal by nine wickets. After restricting Nepal to 133/8 in their 20 overs, captain Shai Hope's 61 not out helped his team romp to 134/1 in 15.2 overs in the Group C clash at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Suryakumar Yadav’s side posted 175/7 after being given a flying start by Ishan Kishan’s brilliant 77, before bowling out Pakistan for 114 in 18 overs. The defeat continued Pakistan's woeful record against India in World Cups; India have now won eight of their nine T20 World Cup meetings and remain undefeated in all eight of their ODI World Cup encounters.
