As Skincare Awareness Month reminds us, looking after your skin isn't about having a 12-step routine or owning every trending product. It's about understanding what your skin truly needs, and sometimes, that one little bottle of serum can do more for your complexion than a shelf full of creams.

The science behind the glow

"The skin is our largest organ and acts as a barrier against UV rays, bacteria and everyday damage," explains Dr Judey Pretorius, a scientist and the founder of Biomedical Emporium. "Caring for it properly helps it function at its best. It's not just about beauty, it's about protection."
