ANC HAS NOT LEARNT FROM THE PAST
Cape Times
|November 12, 2025
THE ANC has become used to making it easy for voters to desert it.
-
At a time when it should be working to correct its past shortcomings, the former liberation movement continues to score obvious own-goals.
Take for example its stated objective of rooting out the bad apples among its ranks through the implementation of the step-aside rule.
The rule requires members charged with serious crimes to step aside from whatever position of power pending the outcome of the investigations. It was introduced at the start of Cyril Ramaphosa’s presidency and indeed it did not take long for its impact to be felt.
