Marquez dominates at attritional Sachsenring
Cape Argus

MARC Marquez won a bruising German MotoGP on Sunday to mark his 200th premier class start in style and extend his lead in the world championship standings.
-
His brother, Alex Marquez, secured second place, with Francesco Bagnaia finishing third in a race of high attrition — only 10 riders made it to the chequered flag, the fewest in a MotoGP race since 2011.
While much of the grid struggled to stay upright on the notoriously tricky Sachsenring circuit, Marquez enjoyed a dream afternoon. Starting from pole position, he led from start to finish, crossing the line more than six seconds clear for his seventh perfect weekend of 2025, having also won Saturday’s sprint.
At the halfway point of the 22-race season, Marquez holds an 83-point lead over Alex in the riders’ standings, with Ducati factory teammate Bagnaia a distant 147 points adrift.
“My confidence is super high now — coming here with three wins in a row and now it’s four,” said a beaming Marquez. “I have to be really concentrated for the second half of the season.”
