BLOOD & SAND COACH SETS OUT PLAN TO MAKE CLUB ‘MORE COMPETITIVE'
CAMBRIDGE Rugby Club head coach Craig Newby has described his new role as a "great fit" after taking the reins at Volac Park last month.
The Blood & Sand announced in February that the 45-year-old would be returning to the post that he held between 2013 and 2015, when the club were in National Two, with Newby taking charge at the end of the Championship campaign.
Following his departure from Cambridge, the former Leicester Tigers and New Zealand back row forward had a spell coaching in Japan, before having stints with the likes of England Under-20 Women, Ulster and Ealing Trailfinders after coming back to the UK.
Discussing his reasons for returning to Grantchester Road, Newby said: "Everything's timing isn't it? Opportunities present themselves to you, and how does that look for me as a coach, and how does it look for my family?
