SOME FEAR THERE'S AN 'ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN'

- By KATIE GREEN

RESIDENTS believe an "accident is waiting to happen" if speeding along a Cambridgeshire town road is not dealt with.

Some residents in Chatteris have raised concerns over speeding along Huntingdon Road.

It is not just cars, with locals concerned about the speed that lorries and tractors also travel along the road. For some who live along the road, they are fearful an accident may happen sooner or later if the problem is not dealt with.

Liam Brightman, who lives along Huntingdon Road, said he sees "plenty" of speeding as his garden looks onto the road. He added: "I think the road needs some traffic calming as it's not so much lorries, but tractors that speed down the road, more often than not are on their phones and only just stop at the junction.

"Come night time, you have all of the boy racers coming down the road with loud exhausts in their cars and motorbikes definitely speed as well."

Liam believes there should be more of a police presence in the area. He said: "More police would be a good start, but if not that then speed bumps like the centre of town. I'm worried one day it will be my son or niece run over."
