Dummett nets for Rovers in defeat
Cambridge News
|January 27, 2026
DEAN DUMMETT scored his first goal for the club but it was only a consolation goal as Eynesbury Rovers went down 4-1 to playoff chasing Atherstone Town in their first ever visit to Sheepy Road.
Eynesbury found the going tough on a heavy pitch and were unable to play their passing game whilst the hosts adapted to the conditions playing the long ball game hitting Rovers on the counter attack. Lewis Collins claimed a hat-trick for Atherstone with Dylan Parker making it 4-0 in the United Counties League Premier South game.
They took the lead in ten minutes when an unfortunate slip by Oliver Brookes allowed Collins in to fire past James Hoskins.
Further chances fell to Chris Cowley and Ryan Quinn but they shot over with their efforts whilst Hoskins pushed a Jack Edwards shot behind for a corner.
From that flag kick a ball to the back post found an Atherstone player whose lofted ball back into the box came off the cross bar and fell to Niall Rowe but his header was straight at Hoskins.
