Backing for scheme to redevelop part of city's science park

BUT DEVELOPER WILL HAVE TO PROVE THERE IS ADEQUATE SEWAGE CAPACITY AFTER OBJECTION
COUNCILLORS have expressed support for plans to redevelop part of Cambridge Science Park to build new offices and research and development space.
However, the development faces an extra challenge to overcome after Anglian Water objected to the plans due to a lack of sewage capacity in the area.
Cambridge City Council agreed to add a condition to the planning permission. This will require the developer to submit evidence that Cambridge sewage works can accommodate the net increase in waste water, or there is sufficient onsite capacity to deal with the sewage. This will need to be done before the new buildings are occupied.
Plans put forward by Brockton Everlast proposed to demolish six buildings in the centre of the science park, off Milton Road, to create four larger buildings. The new buildings will offer a mix of offices and laboratory space.
A community hub is also planned, with consultation rooms for health checks, as is a yoga facility.
The developers have estimated that around 4,150 net jobs would be created by the development.
Most of the surface-level car parking would be removed and replaced with a new underground car park.
