Chennai's skyline is set for a major transformation. With the launch of the Taj Sky View Hotel & Residences, Taj Hotels' first-ever branded residences, luxury living in the city is stepping into a bold new era. Arun Bharathi, Development Manager of the Taj Sky View Hotel and Residences & Managing Director of Bharathi Meraki, discusses how the vision came together, the challenges of setting a new luxury standard, and why this is more than just another real estate development

We're Creating an Address, Not Just a Building

Q: How did the idea of branded residences in Chennai come about? What was the vision?

After COVID, Mr. Palaniappan from AMPA Group got in touch with me. They owned the land and wanted a new proposal. We came up with the idea of branded residences, which was quite a bold move at that time. Once we decided on that, we thought about which hotel brand could bring the most value, and Taj just felt like the perfect fit. In Chennai, Taj is a name tied to important moments; weddings, celebrations, family gatherings. It was about creating more than just a home, it was about building something lasting.

Q: Was it always meant to be Taj, or were other brands considered?

Yes, we looked at several hospitality brands that offer residential services, but Taj stood out because of its deep connection to Chennai's culture and nostalgia. With 13 hotels already in the city, the emotional connection was strong. People feel a sense of pride when they think of Taj, it just felt like the right fit.

Q: What makes this project stand out in Chennai's luxury real estate space?
