March 23, 2026

THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that with the release of 63.5 percent of this year’s record national budget should support government agencies in accelerating their spending and drive economic momentum.

- REINE JUVIERRE ALBERTO

Latest data showed that as of end-February, the DBM has allocated a total of P4.311 trillion out of the P6.793-trillion national budget allocated for this year.

In the same month last year, 67 percent of the P6.326-trillion budget had been released. In peso terms, however, this year’s figure is higher than the P4.236 trillion disbursed a year earlier.

The DBM data also showed that 66.1 percent, or P2.910 trillion, of the P4.402 trillion under the 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA) has been allotted.

Under this, P2.768 trillion went to line departments, while P141.902 billion was set aside for special purpose funds (SPFs).
