WATER bosses are urging customers to be a 'binner not a blocker' as their annual 'Unblocktober' campaign returns.

Severn Trent is calling for people to put items such as wet wipes, fats, oils, and greases (FOG) in the bin and not to flush them down the toilet where they can lead to serious blockages and flooding in the home that could prove costly to fix.

In 2024 alone, Severn Trent cleared around 30,000 blockages, many of which could have been avoided with simple changes in household habits. Unblocktober is the UK's national awareness campaign aimed at preventing sewer blockages and flooding.
