New decorations helped to spread festive cheer in 1983

SHOPPERS in Burton had an extra special festive air in December 1983 thanks to new decorations in the precinct provided by Laing Properties.
The owners of the shopping centre splashed out on new decorations ready for the town's first late-night shopping evening of the year.
The decorations which cost thousands of pounds were put over each of the pedestrian areas in the precinct with the exception of Underhill Walk because the ceiling was too low.
