Boss so pleased with how dropped skipper reacted

BURTON Albion manager Gary Bowyer was impressed - but not surprised - by the reaction he got from captain Udoka Godwin-Malife and fellow defender Toby Sibbick after dropping them to the bench for Tuesday's 1-0 win away to Cardiff City.

Godwin-Malife was called into action after an hour and was excellent as the Brewers managed the game in the closing stages with the lead.

But Bowyer insists he was not making a particular point to his squad by dropping his captain.

"My job is always to make decisions for the good of the team and it's not to make a point or to say anything other than this is the team we feel gives us the best opportunity to win the game," he said.
