Beck could be ready for Rams after next break as he builds his fitness

OWEN Beck will not be involved in Derby County's squad to face Sheffield United in the Championship today as head coach John Eustace hopes to have him back in the first team after the international break.

Beck is back in full training after recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered in summer and the length of time he has been on the sidelines means he is still waiting for his first start of the campaign.

Rather than chuck him straight in at the deep end, the Rams are being cautious with the fullback as he builds up his fitness with the under-23s and B team.

Asked whether Beck would be involved in the away game against the Blades today (3pm), Eustace said: “No, it will be too early for him to be included in the squad but he’s had a really good week.

“He’s done everything asked of him.

“He’s trained with the group all week, so it’s important we don’t really push Beck.
