BARTON closed a solid Midlands Premier Division season with a 2-2 draw at home to Lichfield which left them fourth in the table.

Barton finish on high, going unbeaten in their last seven

They were unbeaten in their last seven matches and pleased to have lost only once at home in the campaign.

The last match was played last Thursday, with John Palmer and Harrison Kemp putting Barton two up in the first half and Callum Slaney hitting the post with an attempt to make it three before the break.

Lichfield battled back strongly in the second half to salvage a deserved draw.

The previous week, Barton had scored an excellent 5-4 win away to West Bridgford, conquering a difficult pitch which tends to give the advantage to the home side.

Barton opened the scoring through Jake Foster after a short corner had initially been saved.

Bridgford hit back with a double strike to take the lead but, before half-time, Slaney's neat deflection made it 2-2.

After the break, West Bridgford regained the lead with a penalty flick but Barton hit back with Adam Foster deflect home a fierce cross from close to the penalty spot.
