STEVE Evans was no stranger to switching things up during the second half of the season as Bristol Rovers manager.

We'll recruit good players then work on the system - Evans

Bristol Rovers boss Steve Evans can utilise a number of tactical formations

(Rachel Le Poidevin/PPAUK)

He tried a number of different formations, including a 4-4-2 diamond, a flat 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, and his most favoured shape - a 3-4-1-2.

The 63-year-old made half-time changes in a number of games, including the home wins against Grimsby and Crewe Alexandra, changing from a 4-4-2 diamond to a flat 4-4-2 and 3-4-1-2 in the second halves, respectively.

Both matches saw Rovers significantly improve after the break, and supporters have seen the effectiveness of system changes in other wins, such as Gillingham and Harrogate Town away.

If you asked any Gashead to pinpoint the best formation so far under Evans, the majority would probably say 3-4-1-2, given its use in a number of the eight consecutive League wins in March and April.
