Taxi app Cabbie promises fairer deal for drivers

An ex-Uber driver has launched an app which he says will make life fairer for Bristol cabbies.

Jawad Burhan has set up Cabo in response to his experience as a private-hire driver in the city, saying he felt at the mercy of increasingly unmanageable fees.

He said: "[The] Cabo app isn't just another ride app. It's an ethical alternative to the big multinationals. It's community-first, driver-friendly and proudly Bristol-rooted. For me, it's important that my business model works in favour of the normal people living and working in Bristol, that means drivers and customers alike.

"In my time as an Uber driver I saw the fees rise to a point where I couldn't make ends meet. Uber were taking up to 50% commission on what the customers were paying for their rides and I had to spend more and more time on the road to try to earn enough to survive.
