Suburban Almondsbury Reserves into third round after shootout success

HERE were no Premier or Senior Division games played because of the GFA Senior Amateur and Junior cups.
In the GFA Senior Amateur Cup, two Premier teams reached the third round on penalties. At The Field, Oscar Cox gave Almondsbury Reserves a 1-0 lead, which they held until halftime against Retainers from the Bristol Downs League. Joe Williams struck a 49th-minute equaliser which was the final score. Almondsbury Reserves ‘won a tense penalty shootout 8-7.
On the Downs, unbeaten Warmley Redbridge shared two goals with Sneyd Park before winning the penalty shootout 4-3.
Thab Said and Mekhi Duncan ‘were on target for Phoenix NG in a 2-1 win at Shirehampton Reserves.
In the derby at Hallen, Avonmouth Reserves lost 4-0 to Hallen Reserves, and Henbury & Rockleaze Reserves went down 6-0 at home to a strong University of Bristol.
Filton Athletic Reserves lost 4 0 at Gloucestershire County League team Stoke Gifford United.
In the GFA Junior Cup, at Little Stoke Playing Fields, Little Stoke ‘went a goal down to Sporting Greyhounds on eight minutes before Thomas Hale struck a 32nd-minute equaliser. There were no further goals and the home side won 4-3 on penalties.
