Our Common Ground Mural gets a bright response on the street

A HUGE new artwork was unveiled in The Centre last week, replacing the former fountains with a colourful promenade.

Bold and striking, it was no surprise social media was awash with hundreds of comments - the overwhelming majority negative.

To find out whether that was an accurate reflection, we headed down to the new floor mural, which is designed to celebrate Bristol's 'past, present and future,' to find out what people visiting the area really think.

Away from the anonymous keyboard warriors, the people we spoke to were far more positive.

The near-unanimous verdict from passersby on a sunny Wednesday lunchtime was that the artwork added some much needed colour to the concrete jungle of that part of Bristol.

"It's especially nice in this country which is drab and grey," Caroline Bryant, visiting from Bath said.

"We'll be jolly lucky to have it in the dead of winter."
