Lantern Parade Event won't happen until 2027, organisers say

ORGANISERS of another staple of the Bristol community events calendar have announced that it won't be happening this year, and is likely to switch to taking place every two years instead.

The Bedminster Winter Lantern Parade, the biggest annual community event in South Bristol, won't now take place again until early 2027.

The event sees around ten primary schools, community organisations and artists make elaborate and large lanterns to take part in a parade on a Saturday evening in January each year, along with samba bands, marching bands, live music and dancing.

The parade starts at the Ashton Gate end of North Street in BS3, and had ended at South Street Park in Bedminster, but for the first time earlier this year, ended in East Street in Bedminster.
