Homes plan opposed Petitioners in race to save old athletics track
Bristol Post
|July 03, 2025
THOUSANDS of petitioners are demanding that Bristol City Council regenerates an old athletics track in South Bristol instead of building homes there.
The Whitchurch Athletics Track is destined to become flats, but next week councillors will debate whether the track could be kept.
More than 6,500 have signed a petition calling for the running track to be saved, with almost 4,000 of those living in Bristol. Because so many people have signed, the petitioners have forced a council debate which will be held on Tuesday, July 8.
