But instead, Bristol City Council is planning to make access for lorries even easier.

Marlborough Hill is a steep and narrow road in Kingsdown, behind the Bristol Royal Infirmary and on the edge of the Clean Air Zone.

Since the Clean Air Zone was rolled out, local residents have noticed a large increase in traffic using Marlborough Hill, potentially to avoid the charges.

Jennifer Hill lives in the house at the top of the road, on the corner with Kingsdown Parade. Since she moved into her house, lorries have repeatedly driven into the building, pictured inset right. Despite many pleas to the council for help, she has faced a bureaucratic and bizarre response.
