Football Wells urges Robins fans to get behind the team tonight

NAHKI Wells has made a straightforward request of the Bristol City supporters attending Ashton Gate tonight for the first leg of the Robins’ play-off clash with Sheffield United, urging them to get behind the players and “enjoy the occasion”.

The Reds are expected to be backed by a sold-out crowd when they welcome United to BS3 this evening. Chris Wilder's side finished third in the Championship, 22 points ahead of City in the regular season but 10 points adrift of both Burnley and Leeds United, to miss out on automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
Attendances in south Bristol have been growing as the season has worn on. The Robins’ matches against West Brom, Sunderland and their final-day draw with Preston North End were all sell-outs, with thousands of fans taking to the Ashton Gate pitch when City’s place in the top six was confirmed minutes after the full-time whistle was blown against Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
