Football Newcastle eye Champions League while Ipswich are relegated

The Tractor Boys return to the Championship after just one season in the top-flight while Newcastle moved into third to remain firmly in the hunt for a Champions League place.

With relegation on the horizon going into Saturday’s clash, the visitors were handed an uphill battle when Ben Johnson was shown a second yellow card in the 37th minute.

Alexander Isak fired the Magpies ahead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time before Dan Burn and Will Osula extended the advantage for Newcastle.

The Magpies remain two points above Chelsea, who earned a 1-0 win over Everton in the early kick-off.
