Cricket Amber on board to help Glos develop women's game

AMBER Reed, the former Bristol Bears and England rugby union back, has joined Gloucestershire County Cricket Club's executive board as a co-opted member.

The Bristolian will offer insight into the evolution and expansion of the women's side over the coming years. Reed saw women's rugby progress from amateur to professional sport over her career, and hopes her experiences can help guide Gloucestershire's similar transition.

She said: "What really excited me about joining was the club's ambition, not just to grow cricket as a whole, but especially to drive the women's game forward.

"There's a lot I can offer, having witnessed the progression of women's rugby, and Gloucestershire's goal of becoming a Tier 1 side really aligns with that.

"I'm passionate about bringing the knowledge and experience I've gained from rugby and applying it to help elevate women's cricket"

Reed, a proud Bristol native and iconic figure in English rugby, enjoyed a remarkable 16-year career with her local club, Bristol Bears Women. A phenomenal leader both on and off the pitch, Amber captained the team throughout her career, demonstrating exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment.
