Bristol Post
|August 04, 2025
MAHDI Saleem compiled his second successive century as Downend 2nds eased in by 116 runs away to bottom side Claverham to further boost his club's hopes of promotion from the Martin Berrill Sports Bristol & District League's Senior Division.
The visitors reached 261-3 after winning the toss, Saleem in fine form as he followed up his 105 the previous week against Golden Hill 2nds.
And Claverham, in reply, were bowled out for just 145.
Downend remain second, but are now 19 points clear of nearest rivals Coalpit Heath who inflicted a six-wicket defeat on fellow high flyers Golden Hill.
Matt Belbin (81) and James Norris (46) were amongst the runs before Aaron Jones (5-35 from eight) and Jack Williams (3-28 from 6.1) struck as Golden Hill were bowled out for 178.
Danny Slade (58 not) then led Heath to the spoils.
Leaders Bath 2nds dispatched Hanham by 28 runs while Winterbourne dismissed Portishead for just 84 ahead of closing out a nine-wicket triumph, Corey Kislingbury capturing 4-13 from seven.
