Breakaway group says change is needed at the top

In a council consisting of thirty councillors - she is in a tiny minority, and will not be able to continue as council leader.

The breakaway independents, who do not yet have a name, are expected to meet the opposition Boston 20/20 group at 10am this morning, Wednesday July 16 to plan a new administration.

A representative of the resigning group told this newspaper that none of them wanted this - they just wanted a change because their views were not being respected.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, they said:

"We take no pleasure in taking these actions but accept that change is needed at the top.

"People had just had enough, Ted, and residents have felt that too. Effectively we were micromanaged.

"The group had a vision of what we wanted to do. In the end the relationship broke down, because everybody was micromanaged and our opinions weren't taken into account.
