EFF victory sparks hope

RESIDENTS of Juju Valley in Ward 13 say they hope newly appointed EFF councillor Mokgalabe Ramaphoko will push the Polokwane Municipality to prioritise basic services and, ultimately, housing.

The EFF recently retained control of the hotly contested ward in Seshego, with the South African Communist Party - an ANC alliance partner - entering the race for the first time. Locals voiced their expectations during the Siyabonga Rally in early August, led by EFF commander-in-chief Julius Malema, and called for greater recognition from the ANC-run municipality under Mayor John Mpe.
