Graham Taylor won five promotions in his three spells as Watford boss.

Appointed in June 1977, he took the Hornets from the fourth to the first tier by the end of 1981-82. After a short caretaker spell in the second half of 1995-96, he became manager once again in June 1997, masterminding back-to-back promotions in 1998 and 1999.

Jim Gannon had three spells as Stockport County manager, the first from December 205-May 2009 which included a League Two playoff final win. The club were in the top flight of non-league football by the time of his second stint (November 2011-January 2013) and in National League North when he returned for a second time between January 2016-January 2021. On all three occasions, his Edgeley Park tenure ended with the sack.
