MAJOR CHANGES AHEAD IN BID TO CONTINUE FALL IN NUMBER OF DEATHS

- RICHARD GUTTRIDGE

'Virtually all' roads in city to become 30mph or less

MOST roads in Birmingham will soon have a maximum speed limit of 30mph, council bosses have confirmed.

Major changes will see speed limits slashed on 40mph roads and drivers instructed to slow down.

The radical changes are part of a huge safety drive in a bid to cut deaths and serious injuries on the city's roads.

It will mean cuts to the speed limit on a number of Birmingham roads and motorists will have to adjust.

While the changes are being made in the interests of safety, some motorists may be frustrated by speed limit cuts on some roads.
