'Struggling' school is now in nation's top 10

IN 2014, Lift Lea Forest Academy in Birmingham was rated as 'requires improvement' by Ofsted inspectors who said pupils “struggled to read confidently or spell words correctly” due to “not being taught to use phonics”.
Lea Forest Academy is now one of the UK's top primary schools
Today, the Kitts Green school is rated as 'outstanding' and has been ranked in the 'top 10 primary schools in the UK' in The Sunday Times' Parent Power Guide for 2026, making it among the best of around 20,000 primary schools across Britain.
The primary league tables are based on a school's recent performance in SATs English, Mathematics and grammar tests taken in Year 6.
The Mail asked current headteacher Mark White about the school's huge achievements and its secret to success.
