Police swoop on racers in road safety operation

POLICE disrupted a meeting of boy racers at a notorious hotspot in Birmingham.
They said around 100 cars had gathered at Fort Parkway, closed to junction 5 of the M6.
The dual carriageway is a notorious racing spot due to its open and wide roads.
The police swoop was part of a wider operation targeting illegal street racing which has seen 27 drivers convicted of dangerous driving, fined thousands of pounds and banned from the roads over the last nine months.
West Midlands Police have made tackling nuisance street racers one of its top priorities.
