OFFICER ACCESSED CONFIDENTIAL POLICE LOGS DETAILING HIS OWN DISPUTE

- ANNABAL BAGDI News Reporter

A POLICE officer 'heavily focused' on a row with his neighbour tried to 'cover his tracks' after scouring confidential logs more than 20 times, a disciplinary hearing was told.

Former PC Duffy tried to find out as much as he could after the dispute led to criminal allegations, repeatedly snooping on West Midlands Police logs.

He was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour and his actions amounted to gross misconduct.

An accelerated misconduct hearing found Duffy would have been dismissed had he still been with the force.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: "I find that his actions were motivated by a dispute with his neighbour which resulted in criminal allegations and that he became very personally focused upon finding out as much as he could from police systems for his own personal gain."
