THE race hate terrorist who killed Birmingham grandfather Mohammed Saleem as he walked home from a city mosque has been found dead in his prison cell.

Pavlo Lapshyn was discovered dead at HMP Wakefield, said the Prison Service.

He brutally murdered Mr Saleem, aged 82, in 2013 in a crime that rocked the city.

He evaded justice for three months, plotting a bombing campaign before finally being captured.

His family, led by daughter Maz Saleem, have since campaigned to honour their father’s memory.

The prison service said in a statement: “This was an abhorrent crime and our thoughts remain with Mr Saleem’s friends and family.

“Pavlo Lapshyn died on September 23, 2025 at HMP Wakefield.

“As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate”
